Flagging a problem
Article Abstract:
Many local planning authorities in the UK are becoming concerned about the increasing use of banners on the outside of buildings. This is particularly the case when these banners are used as a semi-permanent form of advertising. Legislation relating to this issue is contained in sections 220 to 225 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and in the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 1992. The existing regulations are quite restrictive, and it may be better to adopt legislation which allows owners or occupiers to display banners advertising special events without consent.
