call to rsume land sales
Article Abstract:
The Hong Kong Government was urged by the Hong Kong Institute of Real Estate Administration to resume its land sales program in 1999. In contrast, land developers previously asked the Government to extend its land sales suspension until March 2001. The institute said not only the construction industry could suffer from the land sales suspension, but also other construction professionals. The institute also hoped the government could set up a committee to monitor land supply to avoid oversupply. *

62 objections to planned reclamation
Article Abstract:
The Territory Development Department has received 62 objections to the proposed Central and Wan Chai reclamation project. Objections raised because the reclamation will cause pollution and congest marine traffic after the harbour is narrowed. The project to reclaim 59 hectares from the harbour consists of 38 hectares of land to be reclaimed between the Outlying Islands ferry piers and the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. *
