sweden could delay euro entry

Sweden's prime minister, Goran Persson, said that his government could still postpone the country's membership in the euro currency even if a referendum on this issue is passed. The referendum on joining the euro is scheduled for September 14, 2003.

Swedish minister's murder puts euro vote in turmoil

The assassination of Swedish foreign minister Anna Lindh has put in doubt the fate of the country's vote on joining the European Union common currency. Lindh was murdered just three days before the vote was to take place.
