Naval systems
Article Abstract:
A prototype laser system that can sense enemy electro-optical observation devices has been developed by the Applied Optics Division of the Naval Research Laboratory but the main obstacle towards its full development is funding. The device, which can also indicate whether the landing craft is under surveillance, will cost around $24 million for a two-year advanced technology demonstration. The Maryland Advanced Development Laboratory supported the Naval Research Laboratory in building the prototype.

Round-the-clock, on-demand ordnance
Article Abstract:

Developed by the Navy helicopter community, JITOD divides a carrier's daily required ordnance delivery into a number manageable solutions. In this way, sustained surge operations of the carriers are maintained. A method called vertical replenishment provides flexibility in carrying out resupply at sea as well as flexible fleet logistic support.
