The best approach is to shop around and place the advertising account with the right creative individuals, regardless of their employer.

New product development (NPD) specialists serve both a tactical and strategic role in their organizations. The role of NPD specialists is not always clearly understood, however. Contrary to popular opinion, these specialists do not spend their time 'brainstorming'. The approaches used in new product development include: new product generation, redeveloping existing products, international development, joint ventures, and acquisitions.
