Article Abstract:
The June 2005 issue of a Milan-based design monthly called for designers to send in proposals to remake the Ryuogyang Hotel, an abandoned 3.9- million-square-foot concrete pyramid that towers over the North Korean capital of Pyongyang. However, the proposed exhibition to display some of these designs is being criticized by some who believe it confers legitimacy on North Korea's government, which is not doing enough to ease the suffering by the country's citizens.
