Risser Imaging Inc of Milwaukee, WI, is noted for being one of the first professional photo developing laboratories to embrace the latest technologies available on the market. The company was the first US-based laboratory to install a Durst Auto cutter 62 X-Y in fall 1999, a machine that is capable of cutting 100 8-by-10-inch size prints in under 15 minutes. Risser will also be one of the initial 11 labs that will feature Hicks Equipment Inc's ProShots system that prints digitally using the Lambda digital photo writer.

How the best was won
Article Abstract:
Creative Color won $50,000 and the 'Best of the Best' Award in the PMA Promotion Competition, for the advertising campaign for its Durst Lambda digital photo writer. The ad campaign was launched in Jun 1998, when the Lambda was installed at Creative's photography lab. It shows Creative Pres Kirk Green holding a lamb, and standing in front of the Lambda unit. The company then mailed boxes containing stuffed lamb, a foldout brochure, a personalized letter and an information/price sheet.

Kodak makes push into online photofinishing arena

Eastman Kodak has entered the online photofinishing services field through a partnership with drugstore chain CVS. The latter's CVS Photo Center will feature the Kodak Picture Center Online at www.cvs.com. Consumers can check a box on the order envelope and have their pictures digitized and uploaded onto the Kodak Picture Center. They are given an access code for retrieving the photos online, for sharing the prints with their family or friends, or for ordering reprints
