Ahold will build eight hypermarkets

Ahold CR (Ricany u Prahy, Czech Republic), the largest retailer in the Czech Republic, plans to commission eight hypermarkets in 2001. The firm should commission a large Hypernova hypermarket in Ostrava and seven small hypermarkets in other cities in 2001. Ahold plans to commission another seven small hypermarkets and 2-3 large hypermarkets in 2002. The firm will connect its chains Prima and Hypernova from 09 May 2001.

The Austrian firm Baumax prefers Bohemia

Baumax (Austria), do-it-yourself supplies retail chain, plans to further expand in countries of central Europe. The firm will focus mainly on the Czech Republic. In central Europe, the company has a total of 41 shops currently. The number should increase to 48 by the end of 2001. In the Czech Republic, the firm has 18 shops currently and plans to commission another four shops shortly.
