Air Force to HASC: 'Give us flexibility on airlift'
Article Abstract:
The provision in Pentagon's fiscal 2007 budget that caps the purchase of C-17 aircraft at 180 aircraft is creating problems for the US Air Force and hence its officials have requested for more freedom to manage the airlift fleet when testifying before the House Armed Services Committee (HSAC). Another law that mandates that no C-5 aircraft can be updated or disposed of until they are tested adds to the difficulties of fleet management.
