Analyst: Bioterror threat real, but don't 'cry wolf'

The deadly potential of bioterrorism attacks are very real in the US where the most serious incident was a series of anthrax-laced parcels delivered throughout the US in the weeks following September 11, 2001 attacks, killing four Americans and infecting more than 18 people. Anthony Cordesman of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington said that it was all too easy to cry wolf in a post-9/11 world, but the risk of bioterrorism is only one form of terrorism among many, and one risk among thousands of risks that affect humagusans.

Voices support stronger homeland security oversight by hill

The House Speaker Dennis Hastert's proposal to improve the standing of the US House Homeland Security Select Committee as part as a broader effort to strengthen legislative oversight of the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is supported by forces inside and outside of the Congress. Three powerful House committee chairmen wrote to Hastert, to voice support to make permanent the House homeland security panel and give the committee clear jurisdiction over the sprawling DHS.
