Auditors' reputation: an analysis of press coverage in New Zealand
Article Abstract:
New Zealand auditors become newsworthy when the subject matter is entertaining or when deadline pressure forces reporters to seek out auditors. In the period 1991through 1997, 494 articles in the popular press contained information on professional auditors. The articles were reviewed to analyze professional reputation. Auditors were portrayed as either elite experts, or incompetent or unethical.

The chartered accountant in New Zealand: from professional qualifications to franchised brand
Article Abstract:
Researchers conducted a study to identify the features the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand (ICANZ) acquired as a result of the reforms to its role, membership, and organizational structures. The role for the ICANZ is similar to that of a franchiser, and the transformation of the nature of the organization is related to its inability to maintain occupational control.
