BAe 'strikes blow at shareholder rights.'(British Aerospace changes rules for shareholders' meetings)
Article Abstract:
British Aerospace has changed rules for shareholders' meetings and votes are to be carried out using a poll, rather than by shareholders' raising hands. Shareholders will also have to submit amendments before meetings rather than at meetings. Private investors argue that this threatens shareholder democracy, and some institutional investors, such as Prudential Corp, are also opposed to the changes. Opponents argue that shareholders cannot vote after having heard a discussion of issues, but have to vote beforehand, which renders a meeting redundant.

British Aerospace
Article Abstract:
British Aerospace has achieved a great deal since 1998 and the market may not have realised this. The market's assessment suggests some problems. There are rumors in relation to the Saudi Arabian contract, though payments have been up-to-date, and the company's sales of military aircraft are to be steady in 1999 and 2000. There are justifications for the number of stocks it is proposed to issue to fund the purchase of Marconi Electronic Systems. Meanwhile, profits from Airbus Industrie should rise in 2000 and 2002.
