Hoping for big future profits
Article Abstract:
Futures contracts are agreements to purchase or sell products at a set price on a certain date. Only part of the price is paid at the time the contract is purchased. Large profits or losses can result from a small amount gambled, and this is called gearing. Options confine the maximum loss to the price of the option, while futures can involve heavy losses if prices fall. Futures can be used to hedge risks. The price of futures is affected by the lifespan they have prior to expiry.
