The defense industry is witnessing an upward trend with the contractors reporting boffo financial amid the greatest Pentagon spending boom. The top two defense contractors, the Lockheed Martin Corp. and the Boeing Co. signaled that they are poised to break out sterling results in 2004, starting with growth achieved and strong business opportunities ahead.

Lockheed profits soar on Pentagon business
Article Abstract:
The largest defense contractor, the Lockheed Martin Corp., reported that its profits are rising significantly because of the many contracts given by the Pentagon. The net income between January and March 2004 has risen from 16.4% to $291million as compared to $250 million in the first quarter of 2003.
