Boeing says it was unaware Druyun aided firm on tanker price

Darleen Druyun, a senior Air force acquisition official, who handled negotiations with Boeing Company on the tanker deal, favored Boeing with a higher price for leasing 100 new tanker aircraft than she otherwise would have suggested, because of a job offer. The Boeing Company stated that it was unaware that the former Air Force procurement aide favored the firm with a higher price for tanker planes, in order to please the firm.

Wolfowitz asked if tanker lease should continue
Article Abstract:
The defense science board has checked the the needs for tankers in future and whether Department of Defense needs to buy or get them on lease which would be more feasible, as Boeing co. can only produce a certain number of airplanes so it cannot supply more of them on lease in the same time. Furthermorethe need to buy new aircrafts or tankers or whether to use the old tankers is yet to be decided.

Boeing facing tough overseas competition on aerial tanker planes

The Boeing Company was winning the aerial tanker contracts until the tanker leasing controversy during the year 2003 publicly revealed the Boeing pricing strategies on the planes. Since then, Boeing has lost all its tanker competitions and is ready to compete against a government-subsidized company, Airbus, which is also a tanker-refueling plane.
