Building a web site? cost keeps climbing
Article Abstract:
A survey has indicated that median prices for developing market-oriented Internet World Wide Web sites have soared by up to 78% since Oct 1997. Median prices for a simple web site have increased from $25,000 to $44,500. Prices for medium-level, functional web sites increased from $83,000 to $99,750. Prices for the largest site increased for the first time since Sep 1996. The rate increases suggest that Web shops are giving marketers a more accurate idea of up-front, actual site development costs.

Survey: developers' hourly fees jump
Article Abstract:
Internet Web site developers have raised their hourly rates in double-digit figures since 1997 as marketers require increasingly more complex tasks for their pages. Rates for programming and page design have rocketed up to 17% since May 1997 while copywriting rates have dropped 25%. Increases have been traced partly to higher Web site overhead but have largely been due to changes in job requirements as marketers become more experienced in terms of their Web site needs.

Web prices show decline in new survey
Article Abstract:
A survey of 25 Web developers in six cities has indicated that the median cost of establishing a Web site has dropped substantially. Apr 1997 prices dropped from 29% to 45% compared to those of Sep 1996. Some price consistency is indicated in the survey results. Some of the developers opined that the price changes were due to developers gaining more experience and better feel of the requirements of the business.
