Elaine Duke, the deputy chief procurement officer of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) states that the DHS is starting to overcome a sprawling legacy acquisition function into a unified structure that is moving toward a new growth phase. DHS, which is formed by the combination of 22 existing federal agencies, inherited seven contracting officers and is establishing an eighth contracting officer.

J-UCAS program flies into uncertainty
Article Abstract:
The Bush administration's proposed fiscal 2007 budget 'zeroed out' the Joint Unmanned Combat Air Systems (J-UCAS) program, which presently faces an uncertain fate. However, J-UCAS would continue to operate on its fiscal 2006 funding and its participant would wait to see how the fiscal 2007 budget process unfolds.
