CSPL wants to sell its shipyards
Article Abstract:
Ceskoslovenska plavba labska (CSPL) (Decin, Czech Republic), river shipping company, expects a loss of CEK 193 mil in 2001 compared to a loss of CEK 724 mil in 2000. Its proceeds should be CEK 900 mil in 2001 compared to CEK 600 mil in 2000. The company wants to sell its shipyard in Kresice, the Czech Republic, to Peters (Netherlands) and to rent its shipyard in Chvaletice, the Czech Republic, to Veramar (Chvaletice, Czech Republic) from May 2001. A reason for the steps is the firm's high loss. The firm should decrease the number of its employees to 50%, about 550 persons shortly, due to its restructuring. The aim of the restructuring is the transformation of CSPL into a small firm with a high productivity of labour. The firm wants to focus only on shipping and goods transshipment prospectively.

CSPL goes down to the bottom
Article Abstract:
Ceskoslovenska plavba labska (CSPL) (Decin, Czech Republic), river shipping company, has to face a bad financial situation. The firm saw a loss of CEK 724 mil in 2000. Its credits exceeded CEK 700 mil. Having stopped ship production, CSPL has offered its unprofitable shipyards for renting. It wants to focus on goods transport only. Reasons for the lack of finances were drought during the last two years and losses from ship production. Currently, CSPL is operating about 120 ships for international transport. The firm wants to sell non-utilized ships for inland transport to solve its bad financial situation.
