New products offering such as Heidelberg's Colorcam and NexPress 2100 as well as Xerox' DocuColor 130csx point to the increasing convergence between digital photography and printing. The NexPress 2100 can be used as a short-run digital color printer, producing 4/4 'photo-quality' pages at the rate of 2,100 per hour. On the other hand, the Colorcam is a one-shot digital camera for medium- and large-formats with interchangeable magazines.

Minolta Corp of Ramsey, NJ, has introduced two consumer digital cameras, namely the Minolta Dimage S304 and the Minolta Dimage 5. The Dimage S304 model is a 3.3-megapixel CCD point-and-shoot camera with a 4X optical zoom, optical viewfinder and LCD monitor. Meanwhile, the 3,3-megapixel Dimage 5 model has a 7X extended range 35-250 mm equivalent optical zoom lens. Both cameras accept CompactFlash memory cards.

The unit is equipped with a 320-by-240-pixel CMOS sensor and 2 MB internal memory for Web-based and e-mail imaging.
