Canada nixes ABM pact with United States

Paul Martin, the Prime Minister of Canada has announced on 24th February 2005 that Canada has not yet decided to join the United States in the controversial national missile defense (NMD) program. Ralph Goodale, the finance minister of Canada mentioned that the defense expenditure of Canada has increased to a great extent.

India recognizing need for ballistic missile defense: Perle
Article Abstract:
Richard Perle, a former senior Pentagon adviser and a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) stated that India is recognizing the need for a U.S. developed ballistic missile defense shield. He says that India feels that such a weapon could help to protect itself from any missiles launched by Pakistan.

Sea-based BMD system outperforming land system

The Sea-based ballistic missile defense (BMD) systems are better than land-based BMD gear as the latter provides a threat to the environment and the Navy system is considered as America's leading provider of ballistic missile defense. Japan has made decision to procure Aegis BMD with SM-3 for its Kongo class ships.
