Cancer group, tobacco farmers form alliance to divvy up cash
Article Abstract:
Public relations firm Spectrum Science PR of Washington, DC, has been tapped to create a campaign for the unusual alliance between the American Cancer Society and tobacco farmers. The two groups have jointly proposed that the settlement money from the tobacco litigation be used to educate young people about the perils of smoking, and to re-educate tobacco farmers who would lose their livelihoods with an expected drop in the number of smokers. Spectrum launched an agrressive media campaign during the hearing of the bill.
