Williams
Article Abstract:
Williams is a fire protection and security services company which is to sell its Yale locks brand to Assa Abloy, and will be divided into two parts. Chubb's security services offer more rapid growth than the fire equipment manufacturing activities of Kidde, and hidden value should be unlocked by the demerger. The company's stock price does not take into account a valuation of the collection of brands. The company has still disappointed in the past, and suffered an erosion of profit margins for 1999.

Secure home for investment
Article Abstract:
Orbis is a United Kingdom security group which was affected by the poor performance of its CCTV activities in 1998, following four years in which profits had grown strongly. The company is involved in protecting empty property as well as CCTV, and this division could benefit from an increase in outsourcing by local government. Orbis has acquired Sitex in Jul 1999 and this should bring cost savings. The company's profit is forecast at 8.5 million pounds sterling for 1999-2000 by Seymour Pierce.
