Cebrowski: Major defense contractors should face new competition

Arthur Cebrowski, director of force transformation stated that major US defense contractors would improve themselves and produce better products if they faced competition, both from overseas companies and from smaller firms. He is the leading long-range strategic planner for Department of Defense (DOD) and an architect of the transformation that swept through the armed forces and the contractors supplying them with weapons platforms.

Krieg sees U.S. defense industry in sound shape

Kenneth Krieg, under secretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics, has state that the US defense industry is in sound shape and it is able to fulfill the needs of American warfighters. He conceded that the industry is facing a time of change, but the defense contractors will be able to rise to the challenge, as they continue to be the most technologically innovative, capable and responsive in the world.

Bush names Krieg as permanent Pentagon procurement chief

US President George W. Bush has nominated Kenneth Krieg to take the highest-ranking Pentagon procurement post on a permanent basis. Kenneth Krieg would be replacing Michael Wynne, who held the post on an acting basis for almost two years, and Michael Wynne is nominated as the under secretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics, as an interim recess appointment.
