Trouble in paradise for tech stocks
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that technology stocks with high ratings will not fulfil growth expectations. High ratings has not correlated with earnings growth for the 300 top stocks in Europe two decades ago. Real estate companies were predominant among highly rated European stocks in 1980. They were seen as a good investment in the context of high inflation, and inflation was later brought under control. The impact of technological change could last longer, though there is no certainty that technology stocks will perform well.

Climb the learning curve to high-tech growth stocks
Article Abstract:
Investors may seek growth stocks for their investment portfolios and some high-tech industries such as fiber optics, biotechnology, and the internet, offer growth prospects. Investors may have to make more of an effort to understand the field that they are investing in. World growth for 1999 depends on demand in the US. A drop in US consumption will mean a drop in imports from Latin America, Asia and Europe. US consumers are using stock market gains and credit to fund consumption, and consumer confidence still appears strong.
