Comment on Angelini, Di Salvo and Ferri
Article Abstract:
Angelini et al have made a significant contribution to bank loan literature but several of their conclusions need further investigation and clarification. Points to be clarified include the use of bank capture theory to describe real situations, the existence and continued use of information asymmetries, the effects of cross-country differences and the possible use of micro data to further study relationship lending.

Comment on Berlin and Mester, Houston and James
Article Abstract:
Houston and James' conclusions deserve further investigation because of a paradox in the performance of insuring relationship lending while Berlin and Mester's conclusions on relationship lending are doubtful also. The two papers focus on the effects of relationship lending within and outside of banking institutions and their papers deserve further investigation so as to clarify and support their conclusions.

Comment on Hancock and Wilcox
Article Abstract:
The Hancock-Wilcox paper on credit could be further improved by including a detailed discussion of a credit crunch and its links to regulatory structures. Some conclusions are open to debate as there are generalizations that go beyond empirical results as with the behavior of borrowers after being denied credit and the investigation of the efficacy of the Small Business Administration lending.
