CompUSA's Morton weds retail, PCs
Article Abstract:
CompUSA, Dallas, TX, chain of computer superstores, had a turnover of 827 million dollars in 1992, up 52%. Under its chairman, Nathan Morton, it has restructured its operations in the US into three units to cover the western, eastern and central regions and formed CompUSA International with a view to expanding into Canada and outside the continent. It considers itself a company driven by customers, and recommends that manufacturers look more closely at retail operations, whose requirements are unlike those of traditional channels. When dealing with manufacturers, CompUSA's priorities are profit, product availability, delivery terms and promotional funding.
