Article Abstract:
The National Health Service (NHS) of the United Kingdom is behind in its use of computers as management tools. Hardware is readily available but availability and implementation of software is a different story. District- based minicomputers will be necessary to expand computing capabilities. Two levels of computer power in the NHS would be too costly. Regional health authorities need to turn management of facilities over to the district authorities. The development of the supplies information system and patient administration systems have advanced decentralization of computer powers. Implementation may be delayed or difficult due to the problems of inadequate money and expertise resources. To effectively advance into the computer age, the NHS needs to focus particularly on implementation.

Heroes, captains, lookouts and managing growth
Article Abstract:
Small business must focus on managing growth in order to ensure success. Small business owners should take the time to view the business dispassionately from a fresh perspective in order to see the dynamics of the surrounding business environment. Small business owners must manage the business with consistency and vision. Clarity is the key to vision: small business people must direct their efforts towards fulfilling their vision. Other vital aspects of growth are timing; managing the pace of growth to ensure competitive advantage; maintaining a proper cash flow; encouraging the growth of the business' employees; and maintaining an outward looking perspective.
