The year of 1983 was a poor one for the cosmetics industry. Cosmetics manufacturers will employ creative marketing strategies to improve performance levels. The industy was hurt by the cost consciousness of consumers and a maturing market. Two boosts to the market are consumer spending in 1984 and a retail inventory of cosmetics.
