Courtaulds pre-Tencel
Article Abstract:
Courtaulds produces fiber for textiles and has been hit by a rise in the cost of its raw materials. The company has developed a new fiber called Tencel which absorbs as well as cotton and is as strong as polyester. Tencel is expected to bring profits at the top of the business cycle and this should help soften a downturn, according to Goldman Sachs, which recommends buying the company's shares. Lehman Brothers forecasts a pre-tax profit of 150 million pounds sterling for Courtaulds for 1995 rising to between 180 million pounds and 200 million pounds in 1996.
