Crisis managers leave Vinium Velke Pavlovice
Article Abstract:
Vinium (Velke Pavlovice, Czech Republic), wine company, sold nearly 13 mil bottles of quality variety wines in 2000. The firm increased its proceeds from the sales of its products by CEK 100 mil to CEK 308 mil in 2000. According to preliminary results, the firm saw a profit of CEK 31.5 mil in 2000 compared to a loss of more than CEK 30 mil in 1999. The positive 2000 economic results allowed the leaving of crisis managers, who controled Vinium during a one-year period. The wine subsidiary Vino Bzenec (VB) (Bzenec, Czech Republic), which has an 80% stake held by Vinium, saw a loss of nearly CEK 50 mil in 2000. The drop of the 2000 proceeds was a consequence of the firm's restructuring. VB ended its unprofitable production of table and fruit wines and launched quality variety wines. Vinium and VB should merge in 2001.
