Problem potatoes
Article Abstract:
Everest Foods is a major UK producer of potato chips, and has been affected by rises in potato prices. Prices rose to Jul 1995 when they dropped, but are likely to rise again. The company has contracts with growers which help offset price volatility. Some price increases can be offloaded onto retailers, since Everest is a large company, but there are limits to price increases that consumers will pay. The company's profit is forecast at 3.9 million pounds sterling for 1994-1995.
