Crusade against the coronary
Article Abstract:
Corony thrombosis is the most common agent of heart attacks brought about by the full blockage of a single coronary artery. Obstructions of arteries are caused by atheroma, normally composed of platelets, fibrin and cholesterol. Sugar and smoking promote the formation of atheroma while aspirin and the female hormone oestrogen prevent it. Thus, a male diabetic who smokes and has a high level of cholesterol is susceptible to heart attacks. People with high blood pressure and are obese are also easy targets. However, the greatest risk factor is genetic predisposition. Other risk factors, although having minimal hazard, include life stresses, Type A behaviors, high alcohol intake and racial factors. Preventive measures can be taken by drinking hard water and small doses of alcohol, through 20-minute exercises thrice weekly, by quitting smoking and by lowering blood pressure.
