Current status of the Russian space programme
Article Abstract:
The Russian space complex faces a crisis similar to other state-dependent industries, which has resulted in a reduction in missile and space programs. Space research and development has suffered a loss of 40-50% qualified employees along with the deterioration of the space infrastructure. The situation has worsened in the lower rungs of production and in the capacity to develop new technologies. The current situation requires international cooperation to sustain Russia's national space capabilities.

Russia's space program: continued turmoil
Article Abstract:
The Russian space program has been plagued by problems since the post-Soviet transition. The decline in Russia's space activities can be attributed mainly to the country's political and economic reform effort, which has resulted in a brain drain and significant cuts in investment to the space sector. However, the Russian space program has managed to survived because of the remaining inertia from the Soviet period and funding from opportunistic foreign partners.
