Czech Tatra lorries conquer Siberia again
Article Abstract:
Tatra (Koprivnice, Czech Republic), lorry manufacturer, plans to sell more than 500 vehicles to Russia in 2001 compared to 470 pieces in 2000. The highest number of Tatra lorries was sold to the former market of the USSR in 1986, a total of 5,422 pieces. Then, Tatra's sales were influenced by the transformation of the Russian economy and decreased. In 1998 Tatra sold 165 vehicles in Russia. Important consumers of Tatra lorries in Russia are the mining company Surgutneftegaz (Russia) and the gas company Gazprom (Russia). The share of Gazprom in the imports of Tatra lorries to Russia was nearly 55% in 1993.

Tatra saw a profit for 1Q 2001

Tatra (Koprivnice, Czech Republic), automotive company, saw a profit of CEK 92.167 mil for 1Q 2001 compared to CEK 12.285 mil for 1Q 2000. The firm's proceeds totalled CEK 981.873 mil for 1Q 2001 compared to CEK 1.072 bil for 1Q 2000. In the summer of 2001 a decision about the new owner of a 92% state stake in the automotive firm should be made. The investors interested in Tatra are SDC (US), Cirex (Netherlands) and Behring (US). Individual bidders should submit their concrete offers by the beginning of Jun 2001.

Tatra to introduce tank tractor
Article Abstract:
Tatra (Koprivnice, Czech Republic), lorry company, will introduce a tank tractor and a flat truck with a Deutz engine at an armament trade fair in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2001. UAE, where Tatra exported 1,127 military vehicles during 1997-1998, is one of Tatra's meaningful trade territories.
