Denby is a a UK company which produces tableware and was refloated in 1994 following a management buyout which occurred five years prior to 1995. The company has seen a rise in sales in the UK of 4% and a 57% rise in exports which represent some 33% of sales. The company has acquired Wren, a producer of mugs, and mugs are becoming more popular in the UK, replacing saucers and cups. The company's profit is forecast at 5.9 million pounds sterling for 1995 by Societe Generale Strauss Turnbull.

Family affair for Flare

Flare is a producer of ceramic tableware which has recovered since a poor set of results in 1994. The company has grown through acquisitions and these are due to launch new products, having benefited from funding that they had lacked prior to being acquired by Flare. STC, a JV in Holland in which Flare has been involved, has been affected by a sluggish economy in Germany. The company's pre-tax profit is forecast at 3 million pounds sterling for full-year 1996 by Greig Middleton.
