Denny's, via restructure and PR, becomes model of diversity
Article Abstract:
Advantica Restaurant Group has successfully transformed its Denny's Restaurants chain from a symbol of corporate racism to a model of diversity, thanks in part to its PR machinery. The company's effort to become racially sensitive, which included a management reorganization and a 'no tolerance' policy regarding discrimination, has borne fruit. The company was named by the Aug 3, 1999, edition of Fortune magazine as the number 2 company for minorities, with minorities owning 35% of Denny's 737 franchises.
