Development and efficiency of the banking sector in a transitional economy: Hungarian experience
Article Abstract:
The Hungarian economy has changed from a centralized system to a market-oriented system. The efforts towards restructuring, the openness to privatization, and increased involvement of overseas banks contributed to building an efficient and stable banking system. Banks having complete and partial ownership by foreign banks were more efficient.

Financial sector liberalization, bank privatization, and efficiency: evidence from Pakistan
Article Abstract:
The effects of banking sector reforms in Pakistan during the last 15 years are analyzed. Liberalization of financial sector, bank privatization, and strengthening of some prudential regulations have all led to improvement in the productivity and efficiency of banks.
