Disclosure policy choices of UK firms receiving modified audit reports
Article Abstract:
An analysis of disclosure policies of UK firms receiving modified audit reports reveals that these firms were financially weaker than firms not receiving modified reports. Results of the study suggests a strong relationship between voluntary disclosure and incentive problems. The study also reveals that disclosure statements of financially stressed firms are not often credible and are discounted by the market.
