Photographer Douglas Kirkland has established a solid reputation in his chosen profession. Many of his images of celebrities have become icons by which the public remembers these people, such as Marilyn Monroe. The multi-awarded Kirkland is especially recognized for his photojournalistic style of picture of all kinds of people. He has also published eight books, of which one, entitled 'Light Years,' contains his best collection of celebrity photographs. Kirkland also has several exhibitions on tour in Asia, Europe and America.

Web proofing proves to be a hit

Natural Color Lab in Soughton, MA, has developed an online proofing system to serve photographers specializing in portraits and weddings. The www.bridalpictures.com site was launched by the company in May 1999. A few months later the company launched the www.seniorprints.com. The sites display small-sized proofs of the photographer's film after it has been processed. Customers can enlarge the proofs to get a better view of them and order prints from the photographer.

PhotoTime makes transition to digital
Article Abstract:
PhotoTime Inc in Palo Alto, CA, has successfully transformed itself from a one-hour minilab to a retail digital imager. Although Phototime charges much higher than others for digital services, it does affect the company's profits since 40% of its patrons are commercial customers. The shop, which is located at the Stanford Center Mall, has 47 employees and is open 12 hours a day, seven days a week.
