EADS aerial tanker boom to fly in 2005

Article Abstract:

Ralph Crosby, chairman and CEO of European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS) stated that the EADS in the year 2005 would test-fly a refueling boom capable of serving U.S. Air Force planes. EADS' Military Transport Aircraft division, based in Sevilla, Spain, is developing the boom for Australia, one of very few militaries, along with the U.S. Air Force, that use a boom instead of a hose-and-drogue system to transfer fuel from a tanker to a receiving aircraft.

House panel wants Navy to lead JSF acquisition

Article Abstract:

The House Appropriations Committee in their recently published bill, wants Pentagon to allow the sea service to permanently become in charge of the procurement of F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program, instead of the Air Force. The Defense Acquisition Board recently approved the restructuring plan that would eventually delay the fielding dates for all the three variants of the multi-service fighter by two years.

Hunter seeks more UAVs for Iraq bomb detection

Article Abstract:

The US Air force requires more unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in order to help protect ground troops from roadside bombs in Iraq. US chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Hunter stated that these would be more beneficial in the Sunni triangle patrolled by the Army's 82nd Airborne Division and Fourth Infantry Division.
