Resource use in Federal Reserve check and ACH operations after pricing
Article Abstract:
Automated clearinghouse (ACH) pricing at Federal Reserve Bank offices continues to make use of scales, suggesting that further costs could be cut from the 1981 levels if ACH operations were consolidated further. There has been a 25 percent reduction in market share because of the pricing of Reserve Bank check processing offices. The scale dis-economies have been eliminated which existed prior to pricing. Improvement in resource allocation has resulted.

Determinants of ATM Activity: The Impact of Card Base, Location, Time in Place and System
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to determine the impact of card issuing, time, and location of ATM terminals on the usage rate of these terminals. Results indicate that significantly higher results could be obtained with the issuing of access cards. This increased transactional activity continued to grow with time and was also impacted by the number of ATMs available within the system. No relationship was found for location of deployment. Tables are included.
