Enlightened receptor dynamics
Article Abstract:
Receptors, the dedicated proteins are embedded in the membrane and transmit incoming information to the cell's interior and play a crucial role in the transfer of information across and within plasma membrane. The movements of individual receptors on the surface of living cells with unmatched spatial and temporal resolution can be tracked by semiconductor nanocrystals also called as quantum dots or QDs.

Near-infrared fluorescent type II quantum dots for sentinel lymph node mapping
Article Abstract:
The fluorescence emission of type II quantum dots can be tuned into the near infrared while preserving absorption cross-section, and the polydentate phosphine coating renders them soluble, disperse and stable in serum. The chemical, optical, and in vivo data presented in the study demonstrated the potential of near infrared quantum dots for biomedical imaging.

Self-illuminating quantum conjugates for in vivo imaging
Article Abstract:
Quantum dot conjugates that luminance by bioluminescence resonance energy transfer in the absence of external excitation is presented. It is shown that the conjugates emit long-wavelength bioluminescent light in cells and in animals and they are suitable for multiplexed in vivo imaging.
