Export status and assistance needs of US high-value agribusiness
Article Abstract:
Results of a study, which used responses of 264 high-value agribusiness companies to a 1996 mail survey, demonstrated that export assistance needs of firms are linked to export involvement. The most important types of assistance cited were trade leads, export market research services, subsidized travel to foreign markets, and export promotion or advertising assistance. Findings also revealed that several factors, including sole location, firm location and product types, may affect export involvement, particularly among high-involvement exporters.

The market for information and consultants in Idaho agriculture
Article Abstract:
Idaho dairy and potato farmers indicate that, after their records and their budget, the next most important source of information for production choices are the public and industry consultants. The former rated higher in terms of information value, while the latter rated higher in terms of reliability. The farmers have also indicated the need for marketing and finance information, but consultants have not been providing these services. Larger farms, which are turning to automation, also tend to hire consultants than would the smaller farms.
