FCS cost to soar by $25 billion under hastened acquisition
Article Abstract:
The total price tag of the Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) program is projected to skyrocket by more than $25 billion during the next two decades, and the modernization effort would shift billions in Army procurement funds in coming fiscal years to pay for accelerated fielding plan. It is believed that this would represent at least a 27.2 percent increase in the earlier estimate for the total program acquisition cost over many years.

Schoomaker 'very optimistic' on fiscal 2006 army budget
Article Abstract:
United States army chief of staff, Gen. Peter Schoomaker said that the army would fare much better in the budgeting tug-of-war than either the navy or air force. The army according to him is restructuring its units to be more modular and this is well supported by the Congress.
