U.S.-Russian defense talks show wide accord
Article Abstract:
The Department of Defense (DOD) and its Russian counterpart ministry proclaimed a new progress in the collaborative effort by the United States and Russian to control the category of weapons known as man portable air defense systems (MANPADS), a very dangerous threat when it falls into the hands of terrorists. Russia is putting rigid controls upon its own MANPADS-type production and has signed agreements with former Soviet states regarding their supplies of the weapons.

House panel restores C-130J; orders tests of US101 Marine One

A House subcommittee on National Defense Authorization Act is scrutinizing the different Pentagon defense procurement programs. The subcommittee with Rep. Curt Weldon as its chairman has reinstated the C-130J transport plane and has approved a $67 billion expenditure by the Pentagon for procurement and research and development.
