The provenience analysis of amber
Article Abstract:
Amber refers to a fossil tree resin found in northern Europe. The resin's origin has been the focus of much speculation since the early 19th century. However, early attempts to determine the origin of amber were unsuccessful. It was only later that amber was found to botanically originate from the genus Araucaria. With the support of private and public institutions, more than 5,000 archaeological amber finds from throughout the Old World have been analyzed by archaeologists.
