Sunset boulevard
Article Abstract:
Non-internet stocks have become less popular with fund managers, and sectors that can be classed as sunset industries include textiles, engineering, foo, drink, insurance and banks. These sectors tend to offer little pricing power so companies are faced with having to merge and cut costs. Private investors have been especially active in buying into internet and technology funds, and have also been important movers in new issues. Institutions have tended to follow, though they have to justify their actions to committees on strategy.

The steel bubble
Article Abstract:
There has been an opinion for some time that a stock market bubble has developed, yet it has not popped. Ordinary people are making money, while experts advise caution. The bubble has proved to be strong, and just needs enough people repared to gambling a few thousand pounds on stocks that show potential. This leads to a temptation to join ordinary people, using a fun fund. Investment decisions will be made in line with what the crowd appears to see as a good investment, rather than in terms of how profitable companies are, or other fundamental criteria.
