Foma Bohemia (Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic), photographic materials company, is commissioning a new automatic packing line intended for dental X-ray materials. The line will double the firm's packing capacity. The company is preparing for the growth of sales after it is awarded the European certificate CE for dental X-ray materials. The firm's exports would also go to countries of the European Union and its proceeds could increase to about CEK 20 mil per year after the new certification. The firm's hitherto dental film supplies went to the domestic market and eastern Europe. A small part of the supplies went to Africa. Technical X-ray materials represent 25% of the firm's turnover. In 2000 Foma saw total proceeds of CEK 444 mil. CEK 267 mil of the sum was represented by sales abroad. The company has 380 employees. Foma Bohemia is a member of the group Bochemie Group (Bohumin, Czech Republic).

Foma raises profit by dozens per cent

Foma (Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic), photographic material manufacturer, saw a net profit of CEK 49 mil in 2000, 44% more compared to CEK 34 mil in 1999. Its proceeds totalled CEK 444 mil in 2000. The growth was influenced mainly by an increase in the sales of black and white photographic paper and medical X-ray materials. The growth of the 2000 sales was ensured mainly by exports. Foma's export volume rose by one third to CEK 267 mil in 2000 compared to 1999. Exports represented 60% of the firm's proceeds and went mainly to Poland, Russia and India. Foma increased its productivity of labour from value added by 36% to CEK 434,000 per employee in 2000 compared to 1999. The number of the firm's employees decreased by 4% to 380 persons in 2000 compared to 1999.

Foma Bohemia (FB) (Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic), photographic material producer, saw a net profit of CEK 37.5 mil in 2000, excluding rectifying items. According to audited data, the firm's proceeds rose by 17% to CEK 444 mil in 2000 compared to 1999. FB increased its proceeds by 21% to CEK 109 mil for 1Q 2001 compared to 1Q 2000. Exports represented 60% of the proceeds for 1Q 2001, which corresponds to the average for 2000. The firm's exports to India tripled for 1Q 2001 compared to 1Q 2000. The volume of FB's exports to Poland rose by nearly 75% to CEK 45 mil for the same period.
