GE Capital has a lower profit than it saw the year before

GE Capital Bank (Prague, Czech Republic), bank, expects its 2001 profit to be on the level of 2000. In 2000 the bank generated an audited profit of CEK 719.8 mil compared to CEK 982.5 mil in 1999. The decline is connected primarily with the shut-down of some agencies and moving to new rooms. In late 2000 the bank had a balance sum of CEK 68.7 bil, up more than CEK 15 bil from 1999. Client deposits at the bank inreased by more than CEK 5 bil to CEK 38.15 bil during 2000. At end 2000 the bank had more than 470,000 clients, having won nearly 90,000 new during the year. In 2000 the bank granted credits worth nearly CEK 6 bil compared to CEK 2.3 bil in 1999.

It has a classified-credits share of 23%. The bank has 194 commercial branches and four bank kiosks. It owns 78 cash dispensers. Its majority shareholder is GE Capital International Holdings Corporation (US).
