Dennis waives the fare in Henlys takeover

Dennis has recommended a bid from Henlys in a deal described as a merger. The agreement could be affected by a rival bid. Dennis stockholders are offered 64 stocks in Henlys for each 100 stocks they hold in Dennis. Dennis and Henlys stockholders will own the new company 40/60 respectively. The two companies have already collaborated, with Dennis chassis combined with Henlys bodies. Henlys holds a 49% stake in Prevost, which holds 25% of the coach and bus market of Canada and the US.

Henlys follows in UK bus operators' tyre tracks over to the US

Henlys is to acquire Blue Bird, a US manufacturer of school buses, for $665 million, which includes debt. The US bus market offers growth opportunities with both government incentives and rises in the numbers of aged and children. The acquisition should bring a number of synergies in areas including design and engineering and purchasing. Blue Bird holds a 44% stake in the US market for school buses. The acquisition will have to be approved by regulators.
